Hello, I’m Alexandra
Children have always been at the heart of everything I do
I am passionate about creating environments where children feel safe, valued, heard and understood. Connection, belonging, inclusive practice and emotional regulation are central to my work, and I believe children learn best when they feel secure, connected and genuinely seen by the adults around them.
I am a qualified teacher and have spent more than 30 years working with children and educators across schools and early years settings. Over the years, I have worked as a class teacher, SENDCo and senior leader in schools, as well as a teacher, senior leader and regional director within PVI early years settings.
I have also worked as an Early Years Ofsted Inspector and an Associate Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. These different roles have given me the opportunity to see early years from many perspectives, but they have also kept me very grounded in the realities of everyday practice. I understand the pressures settings face, the demands on practitioners and leaders, and the importance of ideas that are realistic and genuinely useful.
For the past six years, I have proudly run Marmalade Early Years Consultancy, working alongside nurseries, schools, local authorities and early years organisations across the UK and internationally.

Practical, thoughtful and rooted in real early years practice
My work now takes many forms, from consultancy and team training to keynote speaking, workshops and online courses. I have worked as a consultant for BBC Bitesize and collaborated with an independent production company developing television programmes for young children.
Public speaking is something I genuinely love. I regularly deliver training and keynote sessions for nursery groups, schools, local authorities and large conference audiences. My international work has taken me to Romania, Italy, Madrid, China, Thailand and Singapore, and I have spoken at major education events including the Childcare & Education Expo and the TES SEND Show.
Whatever the subject, I want people to leave my training feeling inspired, confident and full of ideas they can actually use. My approach is warm, relatable and practical, drawing on real experiences with children rather than expecting practitioners to work in a perfect world that doesn’t exist.
Whether I am delivering consultancy, speaking at an event or sitting on the floor playing alongside children, my focus is always the same — helping children feel connected, capable, valued and understood.
